Manly North Head is more than a panoramic lookout; you can spend hours exploring the area and you would still not see it all. Transport your ebike by ferry to Manly Wharf then enjoy a tour full of historic buildings, bush trails, bays, and views to die for.

As you pass above the Manly Skiff Club, stop to look back over Manly Cove for a pretty sight.

Continue around Manly Cove via some quiet back streets and you’ll find Little Manly Point.

It’s then a short climb past the now-closed Manly Hospital to St. Paul’s College.

Cross over to the old Artillery School, which is now open for community use. You can ride anywhere you like.

On the way to the headland, divert to the historic Quarantine Station. Cars are not allowed but bikes are fine. Not only is The Q a fascinating look at how we handled migrants and overseas travellers last century, there are also stunning harbour views from several vantage points.

The main North Head lookout has one of Australia’s most impressive vistas, stretching across one of the world’s most beautiful harbours.

There are several gateways into the Headland Reserve which are great riding trails. Some go past military memorials and old installations while others follow the sandstone wall that surrounded the former base.

When it’s time to descend back into Manly village, divert through the campus of the International College of Hospitality Management.  Known to locals at St. Patricks College, the former seminary is truly grand architecture.

You can ride through the College grounds down to Shelley Beach, which has its own magnificent cliffside views.

Of course, no bike tour of Manly is complete without a lap of the iconic beach.

You can adjust the length of this ride to suit, like adding Freshwater Headland only 15mins north. On Sydney’s Northern Beaches, you can ride forever.

I cannot think of a better way to spend a few hours on a bike than touring the Manly North Head. 30kms of varied, safe, and scenic riding, finished off via the Manly Corso cafes and eateries.
